There was blood

Lots of it. Baby Elle crawled and fell on a plastic container and cut open the flap of skin that connects the upper lip to the gums. At first the blood came trickling out of her mouth and I thought she bite her tongue. But when I tried to look closer, the blood looked like it was coming out of her teeth, her upper teeth and I kept trying to wipe it and wipe it but it kept coming.

I think I died for a moment there cuz my heart literally stopped. I was sure she had knocked a tooth out. Then we finally saw it, the cut on that skin flap thing which I don't know what it's called at the moment.

She stopped crying after a few minutes and played like nothing ever happened but for A-man and I, we were beyond terrified. As soon as the blood was under control and she started playing, we settled down from panic mode.

We've never had such a scare and honestly it wasn't even that big. I'm sure experienced moms will tell me of all the times they've visited the ER but for us, this was our first site of blood and it scared the crap out of us and that 5 minute or so ordeal felt like hours!!

Please God, watch after her and help me watch after her so nothing worse than this incident ever happens!!!

Snugglebunny did the very same thing when she was about 18 months old. Her little thing never grew back together, but it never seemed to bother her. We had a similar scary experience last weekend at MIL's with Babybunny. She was cruising around a coffee table and fell forward and hit her chin on it and it drove her two bottom teeth (the only two she has) completely through her tongue! She was fine after like 5 minutes and just had a swollen tongue the rest of the day and the next, but it scared us to death. These little ones, they sure know how to knock your heart right up to your throat! I'm glad Elle is ok!

Oh yes, the infamous upper lip flap. NJ's busted it TWICE!! Don't worry- it self heals pretty quickly! But yes, it is scary seeing blood coming out of our little ones. *hugs*

Kyung, the baby tights are the same as babylegs, I just didn't want to use the same name which might be copyrighted. but I couldn't think of any creative names. I'm boring like that:)

The frenulum. OUCHIE!! Neither of my kids ripped it. (YET!) But my nephew did...and I was SHOCKED at the amount of blood! It's crazy!

I'm glad she's okay! {{HUGS}} for you.

Yowch! My mom smacked me in the face with a door (you heard me right) when I was about 5 months old and permanently ripped my upper frenulum (or 'labial frenulum', as it were). Scared the crap out of her but I'm perfectly okay now, sans frenulum. You know, other than my lip flapping uncontrollably in the wind...(kidding)

When grandma dropped Ben and he was bleeding from his lip, I swear I died, too. It's heart wrenching to see blood coming out of your baby. So freaking stressful.

I'm glad she's okay!
