my new addiction

Korean soap operas is a phenomenon in korea which I never really got into. Every red blooded Korean couldn't call themselves Korean if they didn't see at least one soap opera a week. They are highly addicting and I used to pass by my mom and sister laughing or crying along with their favorite soap operas which they rent at the local korean grocery stores. Most, if not all korean grocery stores have a korean video section and they carry all the latest copies of bootlegged korean videos.

I used to watch an episode here and there when i had nothing else to do and wanted to spend some time with my mom but a few years ago I started watching this one called "What happened in Bali" and I was instantly hooked. I have never been attracted to korean men but from that moment on, I was madly in love with the lead actor and fantasized as I did in grade school of love and marriage and I wanted to get on the next flight to korea. Now with everything available online, I found this site that has almost EVERY korean drama ever made. it's freaking awesome.

I realize I'm opening myself out for mass ridicule but hell, this is the least of my dorkiness.

If I go MIA on you here, you know where I'll be: mysoju.com (so aptly titled!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this link. I love Korean Dramas but never have time to watch them when they come on tv.

haha! we've been addicted lately too, though my hubby is more so than I am!! we just finished up one called "Spring Waltz"- it wasn't the best- and Nathan says "I feel like I know them, that they're a part of me. I want to go visit them to make sure everyone is OK." LOL!!! he wants to learn Korean now and is bugging me to get more Korean dramas. (We check out ours from the library- but will have to check out your link.)

kia-i found about this site through someone also, i forget who, i don't know if it's a blessing or a curse:)

Kyung, I'm so impressed with Nathan, he rocks in my book!! "A" just makes fun of me and checks to see if i'm crying or not. I wish I had someone to watch them with:)

Too funny!! I don't watch much tv, but when I find something I like, I'm usually hooked too.
How nice to be able to watch them on demand ;)

Hubby's working late tonight so I might be checking out mysoju.com. Do they sort movies by those that have subtitles and not? (I know... what kind of a Korean am I to need subtitles?)

they have dvds at those korean video stores now. which is so much better because i can hide my rentals in my purse, rather than lug a whole plastic bag of there and back. not that there's anything wrong with watching korean dramas. haha.

some of my favorites...you know, in case you're trying to decide: Thank You, Coffee Prince, My Girl and My Name is Kim Sam Soon.

Happy watching! i'm right there with ya.

I loved "my name is kim sam soon" also. I watched it all in like 2 days. I love it when I have the complete set available at once. But those days are gone since having a baby, now I have to choose between sleep or K-dramas and lately the K-dramas are winning.
